There really is no such thing as a level playing field on which you can compare builders' prices for new homes and condos with any accuracy, because of the multitude of factors involved in the equation.
You could gather all of the builders' brochures, extrapolate the relevant information, and create a database, or you could take advantage of our HomesExplorer search engine, that provides all of the essential criteria for you. To show you what we mean, we have taken the last half a dozen homes we awarded our 5-Star Design Award to, and placed their basic details into a table which is featured below. The first thing you will probably be surprised to see - Can it be right? Yes, it is! -the biggest and highest priced single family home with a double garage on the biggest lot (50ft wide) will actually cost you less per square foot than any of the others. As you can clearly see, the other homes include only one single home on a far smaller lot (which has a 1-car garage) whereas the rest are either semis or terrace homes and a 3-level townhouse. All the others will cost you more per square foot.
