About Monarch

Monarch Development Corporation was founded in 1917, making it Canada's oldest and one of its largest, most diversified, successful real estate companies. A subsidiary of the prestigious UK-based Taylor Woodrow plc, Monarch, like its parent company, is committed to the principles of fair dealing, conservative financial practices, plus delivering outstanding product, superlative customer service and exceptional value.

Monarch's primary focus is on residential development and construction, including master-planned communities featuring single family homes and townhomes. To adapt to changing demographics and extend the success of its home building operations, in 1994 Monarch entered into the high-rise sector as well, and has also evolved into one of the country's largest and fastest growing high-rise developers. Along major thoroughfares and key transit routes, in virtually every corner of the city, Monarch buildings are now silhouetted elegantly against the skyline.

In addition to upholding its commitment to developing superb product, maintaining a reputation for excellent customer service and achieving high visibility, the company is concentrating on land acquisition for future development. Monarch keeps a finger on the pulse of changing demographics and responds with appropriate residential offerings that contain just the right designs and features to suit the market spectrum from first-time buyers to empty-nesters.

Monarch has been a member of the Greater Toronto Home Builders Association since 1957 and was integral in establishing the Ontario New Home Warranty Program (now known as Tarion) during the 1970s. In 2003, the company was named the first-ever Ontario Home Builders' Association Home Builder of the Year – a distinction that was determined largely through an independent survey of home purchasers. In addition, Vice President Sales & Marketing Linda Mitchell was presented with the Riley Brethour Award. Monarch's extensive association involvement includes three GTHBA past-presidents: Colin Parsons, John Sandusky and Mark Parsons. The firm also received in both 2003 and 2004, the Consumers' Choice Award, presented by the Consumers' Choice Institute, Canada, for excellence in Business Services, determined by an independent survey of consumers and businesspeople.

Community-minded Monarch supports a number of charitable causes. In 2004, the company raised over $60,000 for United Way through corporate, employee and other donations, including a Golf Tournament that raised $15,000. Other recent GTA recipients of Monarch's financial generosity and employee participation are the Oakville YMCA ($50,000), Yonge Street Mission ($35,000) and Markham YMCA ($25,000).

We believe that Monarch's past accomplishments and ongoing commitment to the home building industry are the cornerstone to Monarch's success. Purchasers can be assured that Monarch is committed to delivering what is promised at a fair price.
